As bootleggers of this “hip-pop” culture we accepted the challenge to re-do the Anti Social Social Club Flannel. The urban streetwear brand that continues to push boundaries all over the fashion hip-hop realm, hasn’t yet reached out to touch the legs of runners and spread to them a message connecting to their design geniuses. The not so simple recreation of this iconic phrase “Anti Social Social Club,” took countless days to get right. Simple curves just wouldn’t cut it. The bootlegging of this brand began from the ground up, letter by letter, curve by curve, until it was perfect for the running community all over the world. Because we aren’t just runners, we are fashion enthusiasts, artists, musicians, hypebeasts, and more, this meant WE HAD TO COME CORRECT.
We at NNB-NYC knew that it was more than just about the product. It was the message that would speak to our running community who log-in countless miles every week, most being painful. Its a club that we can SOMETIMES hate being apart of, but its also something that we always return to.
Finding the right product to put our recreation on was very meticulous. Anybody with a music streaming subscription or at least born in the early 90s, knows every single word from the late great Christopher Wallace of his first single “Juicy.” The reminiscent rhymes of the, then 22 years old lyricist, bounced around between his struggles and his stylish successes.
“Way back, when I had the red and black lumberjack…”
-Notorious B.I.G. – Juicy, 1994
As listeners we imagined what that flannel looked like, and as creatives under one culture of hip-hop we all made the same envision. You can’t re-do the red and black lumberjack flannel. It must be heavyweight, smooth on the skin, and the red is a pure blood shade. And we found just that. All we needed to do was build upon it.
We hope that you enjoy the look, feel, and most of all, message of our latest drop, the Anti Social Social Club Heavyweight Flannel.
